Why extractor hood filters need to be replaced now – and why your customers are looking for alternatives

Extractor hood filters are an indispensable part of every kitchen, but are often overlooked. This presents an opportunity for wholesalers and retailers. Consumers and business customers are increasingly looking for affordable alternatives to expensive original filters. Why timely replacement is essential

After use, filters become saturated with grease and odours. This slows down airflow and increases energy consumption. Cooking odours also become more noticeable and the noise level increases because the motor has to work harder. Timely replacement allows the end user to keep the kitchen fresher, the extractor hood efficient and wear and tear to a minimum. Most filters need to be replaced 3 to 4 times a year. Rules of thumb for replacement

  • Carbon filters (recirculation): usually every 3–6 months, depending on cooking frequency
  • Grease filters (non-woven/paper): replace as soon as saturated or severely discoloured
  • Metal grease filters: clean according to instructions; replace if damaged or permanently contaminated
